October 15, 2025, Sound Sense Deaf Empowerment Initiative (SSDEI) in collaboration with The Bridge Inspire Foundation hosted a successful event to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child at Government Secondary School (GSS), Kuje, FCT-Abuja. This year’s theme, “The Girl I am The Change I Lead… highlights the importance of empowering girls to navigate the digital world and harness its opportunities.
Our program reached out to 302 girls and 30 teachers, focusing on:
- Digital literacy training
- Menstrual hygiene management
- Education mentoring for leadership
- Distribution of sanitary pads
- Medical check-ups
- Refreshments and fun session
- Q&A session
The event was a resounding success, with our digital literacy training session equipping girls with essential skills to navigate the digital world, while our menstrual hygiene management session educated them on proper hygiene practices and debunked common myths surrounding menstruation. Our education mentoring session paired girls with experienced mentors who provided guidance on leadership skills, goal-setting, and overcoming challenges.
