On the 25th of March 2026, Sound Sense Deaf Empowerment Initiative successfully hosted an impactful workshop on Innovation and Inclusion in Addressing Gender-Based Violence at the GSS Hall, Kuje, FCT Abuja. The event brought together key stakeholders, educators, community leaders, and advocates committed to building safer and more inclusive communities.

The workshop was proudly supported by partners and representatives from Deaf in Tech, the Nigeria Women Trust Fund, and the Nigeria Association of the Deaf, including the presence of its National Women Leader. Their participation demonstrated a shared commitment to advancing inclusion, empowering persons with disabilities, and strengthening community-based prevention of Gender-Based Violence.

The program was highly interactive, engaging, and eye-opening for participants. Through discussions, practical examples, and shared experiences, teachers and community leaders explored innovative and inclusive approaches to preventing Gender-Based Violence within schools and communities. The session emphasized that prevention begins not only with policies and systems, but also with awareness, positive values, responsible leadership, and inclusive attitudes.

Participants reflected on the importance of recognizing the value and potential of every individual, especially persons with disabilities, and creating environments where everyone feels respected, protected, and empowered to contribute meaningfully to society. The workshop also highlighted the role of educators and community leaders as role models who can shape behavior, promote dignity, and foster a culture of respect.

At Sound Sense Deaf Empowerment Initiative, we remain dedicated to promoting inclusion, building confidence among persons with disabilities, and supporting communities to prevent Gender-Based Violence through education, collaboration, and innovation. This workshop marks another important step in our ongoing mission to create safer, more inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.
