On September 5, 2025, Sound Sense Deaf Empowerment Initiative took a significant step towards empowering the deaf community in Abuja with the launch of its Empowerment Program in Kuje.
The induction program brought together 14 enthusiastic participants and expert facilitators, marking the beginning of a life-changing journey for the beneficiaries.
The participants were delighted to be mapped with their facilitators and learn about their training locations. Our facilitators were fully paid to ensure a seamless training experience, demonstrating our commitment to providing high-quality support to our beneficiaries.
Over the next six months, our participants will undergo intensive training in their preferred skills, courtesy of Sound Sense Deaf Empowerment Initiative. Upon completion, they’ll receive startup packs to help them launch their own businesses and become self-sufficient.
Our next stop is Lugbe and Gwagwalada communities, where we’ll be working with more deaf individuals to empower them with vocational skills and support. Our vision is to reach out to the entire deaf community in Abuja, fostering inclusivity, productivity, and sustainability.
